OIL PAINTING WORKSHOP – PETS PAINTING: CREATE UNIQUE ART WITH YOUR DOG AND CAT

In this Pets Painting workshop, you will learn how to plan your painting, model your subject with value, color temperature, edges, and so much more. Instructor James Wu will provide step-by-step instruction and demonstrations to help you capture the likeness of your pet and will show you how to put it all together in a painting full of personality. No previous painting experience necessary!
For capturing your darling dog or cat in a lovable, lifelike work of art, bring couple of pet photos you like. The instructor will help you to select the best source photo for your piece and discover the easy process for quickly and accurately sketching any dog or cat. Use these simple techniques for sketching to canvas, and then explore value, color, and practice painting expressive eyes with realistic warmth.
Follow James through demonstrations as you create your own pet painting using loose, fluid brushstrokes to develop fur and whiskers and layer colors for a dimensional effect. After learning the painting techniques from this workshop, you’ll have plenty of new skills to take your work to the next level!
The international award-winning painter, artist James Wu, has a Masters of Fine Art in painting. He has been teaching painting, watercolor, drawing and figure drawing for more than 16 years at University of Missouri St. Louis and Community Colleges in the US and has taught 10 years studio art in Taiwan.

BIRD PORTRAITURE WORKSHOP

Drawing is one of the important foundational skills in art and you can master it! We will draw with pencils in this workshop and you will be able to use the drawing techniques you are taught to develop your skills in charcoal, watercolor pencil, watercolor, oil painting, Chinese painting and more.
Drawing birds is a fun way to capture nature and to observe birds carefully and understand them more deeply. This workshop of drawing a Bird Portrait will show you how to draw birds from photos, the fundamentals of drawing techniques, and knowledge you need to draw birds. The workshop includes an introduction to drawing principles, construction, proportion, form, value, composition, perception, visual awareness, sensitivity. It will help you take your drawing to the next level.
Instructor Grace Lin will demonstrate step-by-step and offer individual help as students draw. The demonstration of bird portrait drawing will be broken down into several techniques (from line, tone, value, and light to negative space) that will be helpful in drawing a wide variety of subjects as well.
This workshop is open to all skill levels.

“Exploring Florals in Watercolor”
This workshop will consist of demonstrations and is designed for beginner-intermediate students. This workshop will be focused on developing floral studies and skills in brushstrokes and mixing color techniques. Thorough investigation of watercolor wet on wet techniques to enjoy the fluid nature of the medium invites surprises.
During this workshop, students will learn to use the five design elements of color, shape, value, texture and line. To create free flowing shapes of flowers by using variety colors with a full range of values – from light transparency to dark pigment.

Chinese Painting is a fun, relaxing, and interesting painting technique. This workshop will cover the basic traditional Chinese brush techniques and materials.
Instructor Grace Lin will demo the Chinese painting techniques of a Peony Flower and participants will enjoy painting flowers with bamboo brush, ink and colors on rice paper. They will be introduced step-by-step to the special implements used in these techniques and materials. Students will be instructed on how to hold the brush properly and the use of various brush strokes. Grace’s detailed systematic explanations and live demonstrations will enable you to create free or spontaneous-style Chinese brush paintings with ease.
Through the study of traditional Chinese ink mixed with watercolor on rice paper, participants will become familiar with the amazing potential of this special medium and enjoy the spontaneity of Chinese brush painting.
This workshop is open to all skill levels.
